My husband and I started Jambo Books because we were searching for high-quality books starring children of color in situations where children’s literature rarely places them — making friends, raising pets, loving grandparents and fighting dragons. Our readers love the stories!

John Y. ★★★★★

The sturdy box itself is a nice bonus for storage, and the stories have such simple, joyful plots about everyday friendship. I’ve already read each one three times with my four-year-old.

Stella ★★★★★

My three-year-old lights up every time a new box arrives, and I love that the books show kids who look like her just being ordinary kids. The topics feel age-appropriate without being preachy, which is hard to find. Definitely worth subscribing for the year.

Adam B. ★★★★★

My three-year-old was so excited to see characters in a book who actually look like her friends at school, and she asks to read the stories about making new friends every single night. The illustrations are bright and engaging enough to hold her attention through the whole thing.
