My husband and I started Jambo Books because we were searching for high-quality books starring children of color in situations where children’s literature rarely places them — making friends, raising pets, loving grandparents and fighting dragons. Our readers love the stories!

My daughter lights up every time a new box arrives—the stories actually reflect her world. The book selection feels thoughtful, with characters just being kids, and the included activity sheet keeps her engaged long after we finish reading.

Isabella ★★★★★

My 5-year-old actually asks to read these books before bed now, which never happened with our old storybooks. The story about the little boy learning to bake with his grandmother has sparked so many conversations at our dinner table.

It’s rare to find a box that focuses on kids of color in everyday, joyful moments instead of just lessons about struggle—these books hit that perfectly for my 5-year-old. The selections have been varied enough that he’s excited to open every single one, and I love how they spark his own storytelling
