The blending stumps and sandpaper block are a nice bonus for someone just starting out with pastels, and the CarbOthello pencil adds great precision. I wish the set included a slightly larger selection of pastel colors, but the included paper pad works beautifully with the chalk.

The sandpaper block is a surprisingly handy tool for sharpening the pastel pencils to a fine point. I do wish the set included a few more of the darker tinted paper sheets, but the variety is good for practicing different subjects.
